Loring’s hot air recirculation system drastically reduces emissions, without the need for an external afterburner. Loring users have reported up to 80% fuel reduction compared to conventional drum roasters.

COMPOSTING & GARDENING

Coffee grounds, burlap, and coffee chaff are generated by shipping, brewing, and roasting processes at our cafes and headquarters. We’ve teamed up with the following local composting partners to make the most of our waste:

OAT MILK

In addition to whole or skim milk from local Turner Dairy Farms, all of our cafes serve vegan, gluten-free Oatly milk at no additional cost.

Oatly’s holistic F.A.R.M. (Future Agriculture Renovation Movement) program is focused on:

Sequestering carbon in soil and perennials
Improving downstream water quality
Enabling farmers to trial and develop new practices
Building generational security in farm families
Reducing net greenhouse gas emissions

We partner with Teapigs to bring our community high quality, whole leaf tea. Teapigs is a certified B Corp, which means they have been audited and meet the highest standards of social and environmental performance, accountability, and transparency. They were also the first tea company to have certified plastic-free packaging.

We work to build long term relationships by purchasing from smallholder community groups, often increasing the amount we purchase year over year as we grow. We desire to build sustainability in our corner of the specialty coffee industry by:

Building through consistent, long term buying relationships

To that end, over the past five years we've introduced medical, vision, and dental insurance plans, Paid Time Off for all staff, formalized review and wage increase protocols, and more. In a high turnover industry, we're proud to say that (as of May 2023) over 60% of our staff has been with us for at least one year. Our average tenure is more than two years.
